Baroque Galactic: Kamila Batavia Maps 1,000 Years of Civilization in the Single “Tayomi”
Press Release | April 27, 2026
A cross-cultural work that blends medieval instruments, Baroque philosophy, and cosmic textures.
“Once upon a time, the Princess of Batavia built a castle from the ruins of memory and looked up to the sky.”
Hamburg, April 27, 2026 — That is the opening line of Kamila Batavia’s Baroque Galactic era — a musical auteur from Jakarta (an artist who writes, produces, and builds her own artistic world) who now resides in Hamburg, Germany.

Through the single “Tayomi,” a new micro-genre was born, in which Kamila maps a thousand years of civilization into a single song.
Medieval instrumental elements, ornamentation, and Baroque philosophy blend with expansive, otherworldly textures. Within it, Kamila writes a love letter to her late mother in a timeless concept, through honest language, emotional precision, and lyrical layers that function like literature.
This is proven in the phrase “Ku bangun istana dari puing memori" (I built a castle from the ruins of memory) as evidence of her emotional resilience amidst the hardship she faced in her life and profound loss, as well as a plea for an equal relationship in the lyric " tak ada usia di surga nanti, maukah kau menjadi teman sejati?" (there is no age in heaven later, will you be my true friend?)
The name Tayomi itself is derived from the name of her late mother, which has its roots in the Javanese language—Tak Ayomi, meaning “I protect you.” It is a promise that Kamila believes remains alive, transcending time and distance. Moving across cultures, languages, and eras, Tayomi serves as a meeting point between the emotional roots of Southeast Asia and a reflective European artistic approach. This approach shapes a sonic world that is personal yet universal, intimate yet expansive.
Produced by Celtic-folk artist Ian Fontova (Spain) alongside Kamila Batavia, and fully artistically directed by Kamila as on the EP "The Scent of Camellias", this track is crafted with historical and artistic precision. Listeners are invited on a journey through time, from an era before machines existed, to a future where humanity remains only as a residue in space.

“In my opinion, my love for my late mother is so immense that even an entire era of civilization feels insufficient to contain that longing. That is where this ‘baroque galactic’ genre was born—as my attempt to translate my philosophy of life into a visual and auditory world,” said Kamila, with a faint smile, holding back her emotions.
Tayomi’s uniqueness is evident in how the timbre of the medieval Rebec instrument serves as a narrator alongside the vocals, layered guitars played to mimic the structure of Baroque instruments like the harpsichord, and cosmic textures featuring reversed piano and orbiting star noises in certain parts of the song. All of this marks a solid international collaboration, mapping elements of a niche genre with precision and a complete artistic awareness.
Kamila’s approach aligns with the concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk—a total work of art where music, visuals, symbols, and narrative do not stand apart, but form a single interconnected artistic world.
The single “Tayomi” serves as the opening track for the album she is planning for the coming years, titled “Memento Mori: The Baroque Galactic Era”—a phase in which Kamila Batavia will deepen and expand her self-created baroque galactic universe.
