The Baroque Galactic

Baroque Galactic is the musical world created by Kamila Batavia, where memory, grief, beauty, and cosmic imagination are transformed into sound.

 

It brings together classical and baroque-inspired elements, cinematic textures, contemporary songwriting, and Southeast Asian emotional sensibility. The result is a sound that feels intimate yet expansive, rooted in personal memory while reaching toward something larger and more timeless.

 

The world began to take shape through Tayomi, a lament for Kamila’s late mother and the opening chapter of the Memento Mori era. From there, Baroque Galactic continues to grow as a space where personal loss, family memory, and artistic worldbuilding meet.

 

Philosophy

 

At the centre of Baroque Galactic is the idea that memory can become architecture.

 

A song can become a room, a melody can become a path, and a loss can become a place where beauty still survives.

 

The music is guided by emotional depth, patience, and atmosphere. It does not rush toward resolution. Instead, it allows feelings to unfold slowly, creating a space where sorrow, wonder, silence, and hope can exist together.

 

World-Building Through Sound

 

Baroque Galactic is not only defined by genre, but by the world it creates around the listener.

 

Its visual and emotional language often includes castles, celestial objects, manuscripts, moonlit seas, harbours, starlight, old family memories, and distant landscapes. These elements are not used as decoration, but as emotional symbols that help give shape to the music.

 

Each song becomes part of a larger landscape. Some pieces feel close to the earth, carrying ancestry, family, and memory. Others live closer to the body, shaped by breath, pulse, grief, and tenderness. Others open upward into the sky, where distance, stars, and imagination become part of the sound.

 

The Memento Mori Era

 

Memento Mori is the current era of Baroque Galactic.

 

The title comes from the Latin phrase meaning “remember that you must die.” Within this project, it becomes a reflection on time, mortality, remembrance, and the fragile beauty of being alive.

 

This era is shaped by grief, but also by resilience. It asks how love continues after loss, how memory can be carried without remaining trapped in the past, and how the people we have lost can still shape the lives we continue to build.

 

Sonic Landscape

 

The sound of Baroque Galactic often moves between three emotional dimensions:
